Overview

Aera is a mobile travel application designed to help users explore destinations and book flights without friction or overwhelm.

The product focuses on the early stages of travel planning, where inspiration, comparison, and decision-making happen quickly. Rather than trying to do everything, Aera prioritizes discovery and booking, creating a smooth path from interest to action.

This case study explores consumer UX, information hierarchy, and designing for decision-making in travel products.

The Problem

Travel planning often starts with curiosity but quickly turns into complexity.

Users jump between social media, blogs, search engines, and booking platforms to find destinations and flights. Discovery tools feel disconnected from booking experiences, while booking platforms are optimized for transactions rather than exploration.

This gap creates unnecessary friction at the moment users are most excited to travel.

Design Goals

Aera was designed to feel fast, intuitive, and visually calm.

The experience should make it easy to browse destinations without pressure, surface relevant flight options at the right moment, and support quick decision-making. Visual hierarchy and spacing play a key role in keeping the experience approachable rather than chaotic.

Final Designs

The final designs showcase destination discovery, flight selection, and booking flows.
